Waterstreet Studio worked with the City of Charlottesville and VMDO Architects on this AIA Merit Award-winning project, providing landscape architectural and civil engineering services, overseeing municipal entitlements and consulting on sustainable site solutions. The building was carefully sited to preserve and maintain views of the City park, woodlands and field space. Amongst the sustainable strategies incorporated in the project were a Low Impact Development (LID) storm-water management strategy and rainwater harvesting. The Waterstreet team provided unique designs to capture runoff from impervious areas and return it to the groundwater through bioswales and filters while increasing parking yields and useable space.
