On this 6 acre site, situated on Wilson Creek in Gloucester County, Virginia, our clients seek to create a river retreat complete with a workshop, studio, pool and poolhouse and a series of garden rooms that respond to the regional ecology. The masterplan weaves together the region’s agrarian and tidal patterns while creating spaces for recreation, meditation and sculpture. Over 500’ of eroded shoreline is being restored and rainwater will be harvested for reuse in irrigation and pool replenishment.
In the 1930’s and 40’s, Gloucester was considered the daffodil capital of the America. Building on this tradition, over 50,000 daffodils will be planted on site and sourced from local growers.
