On this six-acre site, situated on Wilson Creek in Gloucester County, Virginia, our clients sought a river retreat complete with a workshop, studio, pool and poolhouse as well as a series of garden rooms that responded to the regional ecology. Water Street Studio created a master plan that wove together the region’s agrarian and tidal patterns while defining spaces for recreation, meditation and sculpture. Over 500’ of eroded shoreline was restored, and rainwater captured for reuse in irrigation and pool replenishment.

In the 1930s and 40s, Gloucester was considered the daffodil capital of the America. Building on this tradition, over 50,000 daffodils were planted on site and sourced from local growers.
