Alberene Farm is a 400-acre tract of forest, timber and pasture in southern Albemarle County, Virginia. The owners engaged Water Street Studio to provide a a master plan for their property, a remnant of a much larger ancestral holding, to create a pastoral yet contemporary site for their new home.
Our designers first developed a conceptual site plan for the property that combined a home site, drive way, orchards, pool, meadows and ponds with stewardship towards the farm’s ecology and history. The selected home site is sympathetic to the local topography while providing sweeping views. A graceful driveway was also carefully sited and traverses orchards, meadows and wooded groves before arriving at the home site.
Due to its size, land management is a significant concern for the farm’s owners. Our office provided a landscape management report, a guide for the family compound’s future decades. The initial phase of home construction is underway.
